Welder's Qualification

Welder's Qualification has a major growing importance in the last few years at the welding and metal industry. In many cases is required by official standards and regulations, by other means according manufacturing standards of the product or by the project supervisors at their own initiatives.
The main purpose of the qualification is to evaluate and approve the welder's professional welding capabilities. The qualification is advantageous mainly for the following reason:

The performance of a qualified welder reduces the contractor's risk for rejection of its entire work or alternatively for increasing it's scope of weld inspection and supervision.

Optimized steps for the qualification are:
Characterization of the required scope of qualification e.g: The required standard, method of welding, positions, thickness and diameter range, type of material, electrode type and more. The above information will be bounded in a questionnaire sent to the customer for precise characterization.
Characterization of the welding samples and training of the welders. The number of the samples has to be the minimum required in order to save the welding and inspection costs
Scheduling a supervisor to be present at the welding performance and a certified laboratory for the sample inspection according the applicable standard.
Welding of the samples according a certified WPS
Inspection of the samples by a Macro, Radiographic and/or a Bend test.
According the inspection results, certificates are issued for the candidates who met the requirements in the applicable standard.
